Split Spherical Roller Bearing for Mining and Cement Industries
When a machine breaks down, it’s an expensive problem that can quickly result in lost production and costs. Repairs and overhauls typically require removing gears or couplings, dismounting drives, and stripping shafts – all of which can take hours and add to expensive extras like equipment rental, cranes, and tools.
In mining and cement, the biggest problem is often in conveyor systems – premature bearing failure leads to downtime that can cost millions of euros per year. Replacing open bearings in conveyors is also expensive – not to mention time-consuming. For this reason, SAB Bearings has developed split spherical roller bearing designed to be safely and easily replaced in situ without disrupting the shaft alignment or driveline. For example, these bearings can be incorporated into the trapped position on conveyor pulleys and stacker reclaimers.
Reducing overhead lifting of heavy equipment needed to replace conveyor pulley bearings and increasing worker protection. This is important for industries dealing with dust and contamination, such as mining and cement. These sealed bearings also have a higher rating life, up to four times the rating of open bearings. This increases reliability, allowing for reduced grease consumption and less environmental impact, Law notes.
