Onco BCG 40 mg Injection
Onco BCG 40 mg Injection is a medication used to treat bladder cancer and to prevent recurrence of the disease after bladder surgery. It contains Bacillus Calmette-Guerin, a strain of bacteria that activates cells in the immune system to destroy cancer cells lining the bladder.
It also stimulates the immune system to produce antibodies against Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria, which enhance immunity and protect the body from developing tuberculosis.
The medicine is given by injection directly into the bladder. You will not be able to urinate until two hours after the injection.
Before receiving this medication, tell your doctor if you have had any other medical conditions or procedures. You must also tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding.
Side effects may include fever, cough and rashes. These symptoms usually go away within a few days of treatment.
If you get an infection from this drug, your doctor will prescribe antibiotics to treat it. Your doctor will monitor you for signs of a systemic (throughout the body) infection.
You must avoid taking this medicine if you have had a bacterial infection in the past. It may cause an allergic reaction in some people.
Stop taking this medicine if you experience severe pain, vomiting, or a lump in your abdomen. These symptoms are usually a sign of a serious infection called mycobacteria infection.
Onco BCG is a vaccine that kills bladder cancer cells and reduces the risk of the cancer coming back (recurrence). It can be used to treat bladder cancer before it reaches the bladder muscle.
