Post Forming Laminates

Post-forming laminates are used for a variety of purposes in the woodworking industry. They are often used to make countertops for kitchens and cabinets and to wrap machine bases and ornamental columns. A post-formed laminate is made from decorative paper or melamine resins. It is more flexible than a conventional laminate, and the edges can be rounded. However, these laminates can be damaged within a short period.

Decorative post forming laminates are available in a wide range of international designs. They are often based on a wood finish. Decorative laminates are usually more aesthetic than functional and easy to maintain. The best laminates in India are affordable and visually pleasing.

Post-forming laminates are made by fusing layers of decorative paper onto a substrate. Substrates include plywood, chip wood, and MDF boards. Once the desired thickness is reached, the sheets are heated to the proper temperature and pressed.

Most forming grades of laminates contain a core sheet containing flexible resin. This is usually soaked in a particular substance called phenolic. Forming qualities of laminates are thinner than non-forming grades. Post-formed laminates are typically more durable than non-forming grades. Some post-formed laminates can last for many years. These materials are commonly used for countertops, cabinet doors, and drawer panels.

Decorative post-forming laminates became popular in the 1950s and 1960s as home decor. Technology has improved over the years. Nowadays, manufacturers of these laminates use modern equipment to bend and form the laminates.
